Sticking to a keto diet hasn't always easy when I’m at a drive-thru, but over the past couple of years I’ve been able to find some great keto Starbucks drinks.

I’ve learned that I don’t have to make sacrifices - rather, I had to figure out how to modify my drinks to fit into my lifestyle.

I know that it can be overwhelming at times, so I’m here to share my favorite 18 keto Starbucks drinks.

There’s something for every taste and preference here!

In order to better understand each keto drink at Starbucks, it’s important to know a bit about what “keto” means.

Here’s what Healthline has to say about the ketogenic diet:[1]

“The ketogenic diet is a very low carb, high fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy.”

Keto has been amazing for me, and can have many health benefits.

Here are 18 Starbucks drinks that have made keto much more enjoyable for me:

1. Brewed Coffee & Iced Coffee (Unsweetened)

Starbucks Iced Coffee

The classic brewed coffee is basic, but it’s tasty and easy to customize.

Not only that, but it has only 5 calories and doesn’t contain any sugar at all

Of course, I don’t recommend adding any processed sugars to your coffee, but heavy cream (or heavy whipping cream) is a fantastic option.

Iced Coffee is brewed coffee over ice, with simple syrup. Obviously, simple syrup has sugar, so I make sure to ask for it unsweetened.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Stick to the basics and order an unsweetened brewed coffee (light, medium, or dark roast) or keto iced coffee.

Try Bulletproof Coffee's Original Ground!

Use code "BARISTAHQ20" for 20% off your order!

2. Espresso & Iced Espresso

Starbucks Iced Triple Espresso with Mocha Sauce and Brown Sugar Syrup

Another basic keto drink I love ordering at Starbucks is to go with the espresso - either hot or iced.

With hints of caramel notes, Starbucks espresso is complex, robust in flavor, and a single shot only contains about 5 calories with 0 sugar.

Espresso is smooth and is packed full of pure caffeine!

I like ordering a doppio (2 shots) with a splash of cream or almond milk to mellow it out a bit as sometimes the pure espresso shots can be a bit too strong for me.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Order a single, double, or triple espresso shots.
  • On a hot day, I love an iced shaken espresso.

3. Americano

Starbucks Iced Americano

I absolutely love Starbucks’ espresso, but I want something I’ll be able to drink over the next few hours.

This is why the keto Americano is one of the top 3 drinks I have on regular rotation.

Americanos are made by combining espresso and hot water, so by nature, they’re considered a great keto option.

The robust, no-nonsense coffee beverage on ice is a better option for hot days and is a little less strong as the ice waters it down a bit.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Make sure to keep the Americano unsweetened or go with a keto sweetener like Stevia, and if you want an extra keto boost, add a splash of heavy cream.
  • You can even add sugar free vanilla syrup, but keep it to 2 pumps, which clocks in at around 1 gram of carbs.

4. Pike Place Roast

Starbucks Brewed Coffee

I’ve already talked about brewed coffee as an ideal keto drink, but I want to look more closely at Starbucks Pike Place roast.

The Pike Place roast is without a doubt the most popular bean offered at Starbucks,  according to the chain.[2]

The Starbucks coffee roast also works well with 2 pumps of sugar free vanilla syrup or sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup, which both have 0 net carbs.

The coffee itself has 5 calories and 0 grams of sugar.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask for a splash of half and half or heavy whipping cream for a beverage that’s rich and creamy.

5. Decaf Pike Place Roast

Starbucks Decaf Brewed Coffee

The fact that it’s decaf doesn’t affect the carb or sugar content of coffee at all, and pure, unadulterated java is 5 calories per Grande size.

While I love caffeine, there have been a few times when I’ve had to go decaf for periods of time and was grateful to have Pike Place decaf there for me.

It’s tasty, and I still get to enjoy the full coffee experience this way.

Natural sweeteners such as stevia or monk fruit, cinnamon or other spices make a big difference, too.

6. Keto White Drink

Starbucks Iced Keto White Drink

The keto white drink is one of the secret Starbucks menu items, and is seriously amazing.

Coming in at 2 net carbs, the Peach Citrus White Tea itself has zero calories, so all of the calories will come from the splash of heavy cream.

I swear it tastes like a smooth, sweet peach cobbler in a cup, so it’s no surprise that this is one of the most popular options on the secret Starbucks menu right now.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask the barista for unsweetened Peach Citrus White Tea, a splash of heavy cream, 2-4 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup, no water, and light ice.
  • Make sure to ask for the unsweetened Peach Citrus White Tea, because the regular one has liquid cane sugar within it.

7. Low-Carb London Fog

Starbucks Low-Carb London Fog Latte

London Fog has always been my favorite hot drink on a cold winter morning, when I want something instead of coffee.

It’s herbal and earthy, but the silky-sweetness perfectly complements the natural Earl Grey tea flavor.

However, it does come with steamed milk and sugary syrups, so not exactly keto-friendly.

The good news is that it can be made keto by simply replacing the milk with a shot of heavy cream and the regular syrup with its sugar-free alternative.

Earl Grey tea has zero calories, so it will likely come in at around 20-40 calories, depending on how heavy the splash of cream is.

Sugar should be around 1-2 grams.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask the barista to switch out the regular steamed milk for half and half, heavy cream, or a dairy-free substitute in order to drop the carb count.
  • Sub the 4 pumps of regular vanilla syrup for 1-2 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup instead.

8. Skinny Mocha

Starbucks Iced Skinny Mocha

Who doesn’t love a chocolately mocha?

I thought that when I started keto, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy mochas again.

Luckily, there are ways to still enjoy a Starbucks mocha drink that won't ruin all that I’ve worked for so far.

The Starbucks skinny mocha is similar to the traditional option, with a few key modifications.

Skinny mocha sauce has lots of flavor, subbing out regular mocha for sugar-free and steamed milk for half and half.

However, there are still around 160 calories and 15g of sugar in a Grande. To lower that count, order it without whip, and with half pumps of mocha, instead.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask your barista to swap out the steamed milk for half and half / heavy cream to up the fat content and lower the carb count.
  • Then, to reduce the sugar, ask for the sugar free mocha sauce in place of the usual mocha sauce that the Starbucks baristas use.

9. Iced Blonde Vanilla Latte

Starbucks Iced Blonde Vanilla Latte with Caramel Syrup

Anyone who likes iced lattes will love the keto-friendly iced blonde vanilla latte.

This spin on the classic latte has a lot going for it, like the fact that it contains only 4 net carbs and no sugar while simultaneously delivering refreshing vanilla creaminess.

A grande has 190 calories and 28g of sugar, but this can easily be taken down to a small fraction by substituting sugar-free vanilla syrup and half and half.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask for an iced latte, but instead of the usual 2% milk, get whole milk or almond/coconut milk instead.
  • The light ice coffee comes with vanilla syrup as standard, but ask the barista to add 2 or 3 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup flavoring.

10. Low-Carb Pink Drink

Starbucks Low-Carb Pink Drink

I remember the craze over the Pink Drink not too long ago, but I don’t have to miss out on the hype anymore!

The original is the Strawberry Açaí Refreshers drink with coconut milk and freeze-dried strawberries.

The Low-Carb Pink Drink (also known as the Keto Pink Drink) is iced Passion Tango Tea, sugar-free vanilla syrup for some sweetness, and heavy cream.

If I’m honest, nothing compares to the original, but it’s still a nice alternative.

Not to mention, it’s also super pretty and only has 101 calories and 2g of sugar per Grande size!

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • The base of this drink is unsweetened passion tango tea, and it’s topped off with a splash of heavy cream followed by 3 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup. Finally, it’s poured over ice, making it the ideal choice for a hot summer day.

11. Low-Carb Flat White

Starbucks Flat White

The Low-Carb Flat White is creamy-yet-robust, and quite simple to make.

The Flat White is largely made up of milk, so we substitute that either for unsweetened Starbucks almond milk or half and half.

If you want the ‘real’ keto way, I recommend going with the half and half to up fat intake.

It’s available in both iced and hot options, and it’s the perfect blend of robust espresso flavor and creaminess.

It has 238 calories and 3g of sugar

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • All you have to do is ask for a flat white that’s either iced or hot, but have the barista swap out the normal whole milk for unsweetened Starbucks almond milk or heavy cream.

12. Low-Carb Caramel Macchiato

Starbucks Iced Low-Carb Caramel Macchiato

I never thought it’d be possible to make a Caramel Macchiato low-carb, but here we are.

The original has 3 pumps of vanilla syrup, a caramel drizzle, steamed milk poured over espresso, and more caramel drizzle.

The low-carb version is pretty simple to make, though. It’s a Skinny Caramel Macchiato with either unsweetened almond milk or half and half.

Keep in mind that the drizzle will never be sugar-free, so if ordering it with the drizzle, get it light.

Each Grande is 70 calories and 8g of sugar.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • To order the low-carb, low-sugar version, just ask for a grande skinny caramel macchiato with 3 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup.
  • If you absolutely can’t go without the caramel sauce, make sure to ask for a light caramel drizzle so that your diet isn’t ruined.

13. Keto Cafe Latte

Starbucks Iced Latte with Almond Milk and Sugar-Free Caramel Syrup

Lattes, by nature, are keto-friendly, but only if ordering it with heavy cream or almond milk instead of regular milk.

Also, try to avoid any sweetener unless opting for a sugar-free one.

The Cafe Latte is simply espresso with steamed milk, so the type of milk used here is key.

Better yet, order it with 3/4 hot water and 1/4 heavy cream. This way is slightly less creamy, but it’s still very good!

When ordered this way, it should come in at less than 100 calories and 4g of sugar

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • To order your keto Starbucks latte, start by asking for a cafe latte brewed with ¾ hot water and ¼ heavy cream (or almond milk if you don't like the richness of heavy cream).
  • You can use the Whole Earth sweetener packets if you like a sweeter beverage, or go with a couple of pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup (or other classic syrup) instead.

14. Keto Cinnamon Dolce Latte

Starbucks Keto Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte

The Keto Cinnamon Dolce Latte is more like a dessert than a drink, and it’s one I seriously crave all the time!

It’s essentially just an espresso with almond milk or heavy cream, a couple of pumps of sugar-free cinnamon syrup, ice, and extra cinnamon.

While I love whipped cream, I have to get it without.

To give it its signature Starbucks cinnamon drink taste, ask the barista for a few sprinkles of regular cinnamon mixed into the heavy cream or almond milk and mix together.

214 calories and 0g of sugar is impressive!

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask for the cinnamon dolce latte, but with NO whipped cream and NO dolce sprinkles.
  • Then, substitute the whole milk for almond milk or heavy cream, and substitute the cinnamon dolce syrup for sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup, or sugar-free vanilla syrup.
  • To give it its signature Starbucks cinnamon drink taste, ask the barista for a few sprinkles of regular cinnamon mixed into the heavy cream or almond milk and mix together.

15. Keto Frappuccino

Starbucks Keto Frapppuccino

Most frappuccinos at Starbucks are loaded with sugar, which is a big no-no for keto dieting.

In this way, there’s no way to keep a regular frap ‘keto’.

Rather, it’ll be a double-blended iced coffee with heavy whipping cream, along with 3-4 pumps of sugar-free syrup.

I find a pump of SF vanilla and 2 pumps of SF mocha to be best!

Calories will vary, but sugar should stay well under 4g.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Ask the barista for a double blended iced coffee with heavy whipping cream and 3 to 4 pumps of a classic syrup of your choice (make sure it's a sugar free syrup).
  • To avoid the sugar, be sure to ask for no classic and no frap base when you order.[3]

16. Nitro Cold Brew

Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew

Just like iced coffee, unsweetened cold brew is an excellent keto-friendly option at Starbucks.[4]

It’s naturally a healthy choice for any type of diet, but it’s especially good for keto because it's a one of the most low carb Starbucks drinks.

Even though the nitro cold brew iced coffee has a strong coffee flavor and is loaded with caffeine, some people find plain cold brew to be boring and bland.

With 5 calories and 0g of sugar, it’s one of the best options out there for staying on keto!

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Feel free to jazz this cold brew up with a classic syrup of your choice (but make sure it's sugar-free syrup) and a splash of heavy cream.

17. Chai Tea

Starbucks Iced Chai Tea Latte

I love chai tea, and at Starbucks, the tea itself is 5 calories with 0 sugar.

Just make sure not to order the chai concentrate, as it’s packed full of sugar and is very sweet.

A Chai Tea Latte with the tea bags will be under 50 calories and 2-3g of sugar, when made with a splash of heavy cream and water.

I like this one both hot and iced!

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • The most important aspect of making it a keto chai tea latte is to ask the barista to use tea bags instead of the chai concentrate, which is loaded with sugar.
  • From there, you can spice things up by adding a dash of cinnamon, a splash of heavy cream, and/or a few pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup flavoring.

18. Jade Citrus Mint Brewed Tea

Starbucks Jade Citrus Mint and Peach Tranquility Tea

Another delicious tea option for keto dieters is the jade citrus mint, which has been described as the perfect blend of minty freshness and calming jade.

Just like chai tea, there are several ways to transform a plain brewed tea into a keto powerhouse.

How To Order It Keto-Friendly
  • Add a few pumps of sugar-free syrup (2 pumps of sugar free vanilla syrup works great!).

5 Tips For Ordering Keto-Friendly Drinks At Starbucks

Before ordering keto Starbucks drinks, keep the 3 basics of a successful keto lifestyle in mind: low-carb, no sugar, and high fat.

Here are some tried-and-true tips for ordering Starbucks keto drinks:

  • Avoid whipped cream at all costs. Starbucks whipped cream is packed with sugar and is NOT keto, so half and half or heavy whipping cream is much better with 0 net carbs.
  • “Skinny” drinks are not necessarily low-carb Starbucks drinks, so don’t assume that they’re interchangeable.
  • Most Starbucks' sweetener options are not keto-friendly. Carrying monk fruit or another keto sweetener is never a bad idea.
  • Switch to sugar free syrups. Many keto Starbucks drinks are great with a few pumps of sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup or sugar free vanilla syrup. Just remember that sugar free syrups aren't available in every flavor.
  • For milk-based drinks, try to order keto Starbucks drinks with heavy cream or unsweetened almond milk - both are low in carbs.

Common Starbucks Keto Drink Questions

Are lattes keto-friendly?

Yes, lattes are keto-friendly especially if you substitute heavy cream for regular milk in your latte. Another option is to use Starbucks coconut milk or almond milk, both of which have fewer carbs than regular milk.

Are matcha drinks from Starbucks keto-friendly?

Unfortunately, Starbucks matcha drinks are not keto-friendly. They don't have a low-carb version of this drink. The matcha contains a lot of sugar, so any matcha beverage isn’t considered to be keto-friendly.

How do I order a keto drink from the Starbucks app?

When you order a keto drink from the Starbucks app, just be sure to include all of the exact details for making your drink of choice a keto-friendly one including milk choice and sugar free syrups. You can even include "make it keto, please" in the comments before placing the order.

Conclusion - Stay On Track With Your Diet!

There’s no way I was going to give up Starbucks or keto, so believe me when I say these 18 drinks just work.

From the bold and bitter to the sweet and creamy, there are all kinds of keto-friendly drinks to enjoy.

They're low in carbs, contain little-to-no sugar, and are generally high in fat (when possible).

My recommendation?

Try a Keto Cafe Latte or Keto Pink Drink to see that no sacrifices have to be made to stay on top of health goals!
