How Much Caffeine In Celsius Energy Drink? (Explained!)

Celsius energy drinks have recently become my guilty pleasure, primarily because they have SO many options and flavors.

How much caffeine am I consuming when I enjoy more than one of these energy drinks per day, though?

Here’s what I found out about these caffeinated beverages.

Once you know how much caffeine is in each Celsius energy drink, it's only a matter of time before you find your new favorite!

How much caffeine in Celsius energy drinks varies, with some having more caffeine and others having less caffeine. I'll share more about each below.

This section is also handy for learning what each Celsius energy drink is best for!

Celsius Original

Celsius energy drinks come in many flavors (which I'll discuss more below), but if you're going for their simplest recipes rather than newer ranges, you'll get 200 mg of caffeine per serving of 12 fl oz.

The safe limit for most adults is 400 mg of caffeine per day, as referenced by the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.[1]

So be careful and steer clear of more than 2 servings in a day.

Celsius Heat

The Heat energy drink contains a whopping 300 mg of caffeine per serving which is equal to 2 espresso shots.

Definitely not one to mess around with!

It's ideal if you're a healthy adult needing a shot of caffeine for something vital you're dealing with. I know I’ve had situations where I just need to soldier on with some added caffeine!

However, be careful not to have more than 1 can, or you'll be getting way too much caffeine.

I know after having this amount of caffeine anhydrous, I'm buzzing and won't need anymore for a long time.

Celsius BCAA

The Celsius BCAA carbonated energy drink is another caffeinated beverage that Celsius offers - but with a twist. The caffeine in Celsius BCAA drinks is just 100mg.

The real focus is on branched-chain amino acids.

These can help boost muscle growth and lower soreness. This makes Celsius BCAAs more useful as a post-workout supplement than traditional energy drinks with higher caffeine content.

Celsius Original, Celsius Heat, And Celsius BCAA

Celsius Stevia

Some Celsius beverages contain Stevia. It's a natural sugar substitute and a great alternative to artificial sweeteners like sucralose.

Celsius Stevia contains more caffeine than their BCAA drinks, but at 200mg, it's still a fair chunk.

It’s a good energy drink for fitness enthusiasts who don’t want artificial ingredients or sugar to make their drinks taste nicer but would like to retain the caffeine.

Celsius On The Go Packet

Celsius powder packets are a convenient option to up your caffeine intake if you don’t have much time. Their standard range contains 200mg of caffeine.

These are perfect for a quick boost, and they slip neatly inside gym bags, briefcases, and backpacks. That means no excuses for not having a Celsius energy drink when the time is right!

Celsius Heat On The Go Packet

Like the standard On The Go packets, the Heat versions of the Celsius energy drinks also come in packet form. Caffeine content remains at the very high 300mg figure.

Take one if time is short and you need more caffeine to get through the day!

Again, keep those levels of caffeine at or below the 400mg daily recommended limit to avoid excessive caffeine consumption.

Bear in mind when consuming Celsius that these are sugar-free but don't have zero calories!

Are Celsius Energy Drinks Considered Healthy?

The Celsius energy drink is generally considered safe by people who use it as part of a healthy diet, but they are not considered a "health drink."

They will boost energy levels and act as a central nervous system stimulant. In moderation, this is fine, but it pays to know the finer details regardless of how much caffeine is involved.

Celsius Original

Celsius Original has a simple list of ingredients. As an example, here's the list for their Peach Mango Green Tea energy drink:

  • Premium Brewed Green Tea using Filtered Water
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract
  • Biotin
  • Chromium
  • Calcium
  • Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
  • Niacin
  • Sodium
  • Pantothenic Acid
  • B Vitamins
  • Riboflavin
  • Taurine
  • Guarana Extract
  • Caffeine (200mg)
  • Glucuronolactone
  • Ginger Extract
  • Citric Acid
  • Natural flavors

  • Sucralose

In terms of nutritional information, here's what things look like:

  • 10 calories
  • 2g of dietary fiber
  • No fat
  • No sugar
  • No artificial preservatives

Most of these ingredients are benign and aren't a problem in energy drinks.

Aside from excessive caffeine in Celsius drinks when you have too many, there is only one potential concern -  the use of sucralose as a sweetener.

According to the World Health Organization, non-sugar sweeteners (NSS) could be risky for human consumption.

In a recent press release, they say, "There may be potential undesirable effects from long-term use of NSS, such as an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and mortality in adults."[2]

This makes it ideal if you have lower caffeine tolerance. The clinically proven ingredients used are beneficial in most cases, and it's sugar-free!

Here’s an example of what’s in a can of the Sparkling Blue Razz BCAA:

  • Tart Cherry Extract (250mg)
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D3
  • Citric Acid

Celsius Stevia

Most energy drinks with caffeine use added sugars and artificial sweeteners, including some of the Celsius range.

Not many energy drinks offer a zero-sugar option made using natural ingredients for sweetness, as with Celsius Stevia.

The makeup of Celsius Stevia has some extra ingredients but maintains the same dose of caffeine and still tastes great across different flavors. One can include these added ingredients:

  • Filtered Water
  • Erythritol
  • Potassium Citrate
  • Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf Extract

The nutrition info also differs as follows:

  • 10 Calories
  • 9g of carbohydrates

The same high caffeine content and health benefits of Celsius energy drinks are found in powder form too.

These Celsius drinks have the same caffeine levels and nutritional profile as the ordinary Celsius energy drink.

They're much more convenient for a hectic lifestyle, as I've found out when I've been in a rush to get going some days!

Much like the other Celsius drinks from the Heat range, these are identical but just come as a powder.

Just remember to use them wisely!

Benefits of Celsius Live Fit Drinks Explained For Consumers

Celsius advanced energy drinks provide a controlled and sustained energy boost, and varieties like BCAA even give health benefits as part of a balanced diet.

Here are some of their most appealing benefits in detail.

Increases Energy

Energy levels increase because the nervous system gets picked up when you drink Celsius energy drinks.

The precise feeling you’ll get depends on your caffeine sensitivity compared to healthy adults.

How much Celsius caffeine you need to get extra energy will increase if you’ve already got a habit of consuming caffeine.

Increases Mental Focus

Compared to coffee, the levels of caffeine Celsius contains are much greater. Only BCAA has less caffeine than you'll find in other energy drinks.

This means the mental agility you’ll get from an average cup of brewed coffee won’t be the same as from a Celsius drink.

Other powerful ingredients like guarana extract and taurine also make a Celsius energy drink effective at boosting mental sharpness.

Enhances Hydration

Celsius contains a decent amount of water to provide a liquid solution to mix all the other ingredients into. This has the same benefit as ordinary drinking water - it will hydrate you!

Of course, it's not quite the same as drinking pure water, but the amount of Celsius caffeine in their drinks means it gives you that extra surge of energy compared to water alone.

Aids Weight Loss

Sometimes you need a tasty beverage to give you the caffeine boost you need to burn calories and lose body fat. A Celsius energy drink achieves exactly that.

It lacks the fat and the sugar responsible for weight gain, which sometimes appears in other energy drinks.

Amps Up Immunity

As well as being a way to boost metabolism, a Celsius energy drink builds immunity support within the body too.

This is thanks to the effects of ingredients like Vitamin C, which help the functioning of the immune system.

Celsius Caffeine Content Vs Other Beverages

Red Bull and coffee are two very common alternatives compared to the energy drink range from Celsius. Let’s look at the amount of caffeine in each beverage.

Celsius Vs Red Bull

According to the Red Bull website, a 250ml can of Red Bull contains 80 mg of caffeine.[3] This contrasts with 100 mg of caffeine for Celsius BCAA drinks.

Ordinary Celsius has 200mg and Heat versions have 300mg.

Celsius Vs Coffee

The amount of caffeine in coffee varies widely. The coffee beans used will factor into this. So will the strength of the coffee type, e.g., black, flat white, and so on.

The Food and Drug Administration claims the average is 80 to 100 mg in an 8 oz cup.[4]
