The truth is, I simply cannot resist Dutch Bros caramel drinks.

I’m done kidding myself into thinking every time I pull up through the drive-through I’m going to order some boring, black coffee.

The purveyors of these decadent beverages obviously know how well coffee and caramel go together, but their menu expands even further than that.

Today, I’m going to share with you my arsenal of the tastiest Dutch Bros caramel drinks out there.

Golden Eagle Breve Standard Ingredients
  • bold espresso
  • half and half
  • vanilla syrup
  • caramel sauce
  • whipped cream
  • caramel sauce drizzle

The first time the Golden Eagle Breve landed in my eager hands, I practically heard it emit a “caw” exclaiming, “hey, good luck ever going back to ’normal’ coffee."

This masterpiece-in-a-cup is crafted with espresso shots, half and half, vanilla syrup, and caramel sauce, and then topped with whipped cream and more caramel sauce.

The Dutch Bros Golden Eagle Breve is confident in its creamy, sweet simplicity.

When first greeted with the topping of whipped cream and caramel sauce drizzle, I was already happy, but the tasty drink that follows is perfection in liquid form.

2. Snickers Freeze

Dutch Bros Snickers Freeze
Snickers Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • espresso Freeze Base
  • hazelnut syrup
  • chocolate sauce
  • caramel sauce

One of my favorite treats on a hot summer day is taking a Snickers and sticking it in the freezer.

Now I can skip the wait and enjoy an energy boost with the delicious Snickers Freeze!

With an espresso freeze base, I get my caffeine fix while the hazelnut syrup, chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce to create the luscious masterpiece.

I also love this one as a cold brew, with cream and dark chocolate added!

Barista HQ Tip
  • Add some chocolate milk for a more prominent ‘mocha’ flavor - don’t forget the whip!

Kicker Breve Extra Sweet with Caramel Standard Ingredients
  • espresso
  • half and half
  • Irish cream syrup
  • caramel sauce

The velvety Kicker Breve Extra Sweet with Caramel is simply luxurious.

The Dutch Bros Kicker is luscious with its inclusion of steamed half-and-half and Irish Cream syrup, but the caramel sauce really makes it a bit more “sophisticated” in flavor.

This drink has one of the best mouthfeels for me, and I love how the caramel complements the boldness of the cold brew.

When temperatures start to drop, I love ordering it ‘Toasted or ‘hot’, instead, which works amazingly with the consistency and flavors, too.

Barista HQ Tip
  • The ‘Extra Sweet’ really lives up to its name, with the medium clocking in at over 100g of sugar. Ask for it ‘sugar-free’ and you’ll get SF Irish cream syrup and caramel sauce to make it a much healthier option.

Caramel Cold Brew Standard Ingredients
  • cold brew
  • caramel sauce
  • Signature soft top

The Caramel Cold Brew is like a simplified version of the Kicker Breve Extra Sweet with Caramel.

Delicious cold brew and caramel sauce meld together to create the perfect balance of sweet and robust.

The signature Dutch Bros soft top caps it off, offering a bit of fluffy decadence with every sip. This is yet another drink I love hot, too, so I can enjoy it year-round!

Barista HQ Tip
  • If it’s too strong for you, add a shot of cream or milk (I personally love chocolate milk with the Caramel Cold Brew).

5. Salted Caramel Oat Milk Latte

Dutch Bros Iced Oat Milk Latte with White Chocolate and Salted Caramel Syrup
Salted Caramel Oat Milk Latte Standard Ingredients
  • espresso
  • oat milk
  • salted caramel syrup

Sweet and savory is the perfect flavor combination, and the Salted Caramel Oat Milk Latte is a testament to that.

I used to be under the impression that non-dairy milk options were less flavorful, but this drink proved me wrong.

In fact, I can’t imagine it going better with any other milk option.

The salted caramel syrup flavors complement the wholesome oat taste, giving a kind of cinnamon bun vibe.

Barista HQ Tip
  • For extra complexity and earthy spiciness, add a shot of chai! The salted caramel really brings out the herbal notes.

Caramelizer Standard Ingredients
  • espresso
  • Exclusive chocolate milk
  • caramel sauce
  • whipped cream

Funny enough, the Caramelizer was actually the drink that sealed the deal on my Dutch Bros addiction.

The Dutch Bros Caramelizer, is essentially a caramel mocha, made with their signature chocolate milk instead of mocha syrups or sauces.

Ordered hot, iced, or blended, it’s topped with whipped cream to further smooth out the caramel-chocolate flavors.

For the days I’m feeling like really treating myself, I order it ‘Picture Perfect’ style with caramel and chocolate drizzle around the cup!

Barista HQ Tip
  • The Caramelizer is quite high in sugar, mainly due to the chocolate milk. While there’s a lot of confusion around this, it can be made sugar-free. It’ll just be made with SF dark chocolate syrup and half-and-half instead of milk.

Golden Eagle Chai Standard Ingredients
  • chai tea
  • half and half
  • vanilla syrup
  • caramel sauce
  • whipped cream
  • caramel sauce drizzle

As much as pumpkin deserves its place as the “iconic fall drink ingredient”, the Golden Eagle Chai really is my secret autumn drink weapon.

This drink is completely coffee-free, subbing espresso for chai tea, along with half-and-half and vanilla syrup.

The caramel sauce and drizzle on top of the whip makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. If I have a sore throat, I try to avoid caffeine, opting for the tasty Golden Eagle Chai, instead.

Plus, the dessert-like beverage instantly boosts my mood!

Barista HQ Tip
  • You don’t have to choose between the Golden Eagle Chai and coffee. Add a shot of espresso and turn it into an energy-boosting dirty chai!

8. Reese’s Freeze

Dutch Bros Reese's Freezes
Reese’s Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • espresso Freeze base
  • chocolate sauce
  • salted caramel syrup
  • hazelnut syrup
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate drizzle

Reese’s are probably my favorite candy, and coffee, my favorite beverage.

Combine the two, and you have a match made in heaven.

The Reese’s Freeze is made with sweet chocolate sauce and hazelnut syrup, along with sweet and savory salted caramel syrup.

While it’s not quite as nutty as the candy, itself, it comes close enough that it’s become one of my go-to summer drinks.

The whipped cream rounds out the heavy chocolate flavors nicely, though I got a little wild one day and made the wonderful discovery of adding a shot of chocolate milk to the drink for extra mocha taste.

Barista HQ Tip
  • An espresso and a Freeze base blended with chocolate sauce, salted caramel syrup, and hazelnut syrup. Then, ask for whipped cream on top. I also love adding some chocolate drizzle, making this drink even more chocolatey.

9. Caramel and Hazelnut Latte

Dutch Bros Hot Hazelnut Latte
Caramel and Hazelnut Latte Standard Ingredients
  • Espresso
  • Choice of Milk
  • Caramel sauce
  • hazelnut syrup

Batman and Robin. Mario and Luigi. Bert and Ernie. Caramel and Hazelnut.

These 4 duos are prime examples of excellent chemistry - particularly the last one. It comes as no surprise, then, that I absolutely loved the Caramel and Hazelnut Latte.

Simply choose your favorite milk and espresso, add caramel sauce and hazelnut syrup, and you have yourself an irresistible coffee drink.

It’s sweet enough that it becomes addicting, but is balanced out by the bold coffee taste.

Barista HQ Tip
  • If you’d like to cut down the sweet taste or sugar content, ask for sugar-free caramel sauce and hazelnut syrup. I’ve found that SF syrups at Dutch Bros aren’t quite as rich or saccharine when compared 1:1.

10. Horchata Chai

Dutch Bros Iced Horchata Chai with Soft Top
Horchata Chai Standard Ingredients
  • chai Tea
  • milk
  • caramel sauce
  • cinnamon syrup
  • white chocolate sauce

Horchata is typically made with rice and cinnamon, but Dutch Bros has created a mouthwatering alternative with their Horchata Chai.

I wouldn’t say it’s authentic, but the combination of chai tea, milk, caramel sauce, cinnamon syrup, and white chocolate sauce come somewhat close.

I actually find the drink to taste quite similar to churros, especially when I order it hot.

When I get it served over ice, I’m not even surprised anymore when I end up craving some tacos or tortas ahogadas to go along with it.

Picture Perfect Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • Espresso Freeze Base
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • whipped cream
  • caramel Drizzle

The Picture Perfect Freeze was originally recommended to me by my local Broistas, as it’s one of the most popular drinks at DB.

Needless to say, they know me well, because it quickly became one of my go-tos, too.

The blended coffee drink with caramel and chocolate sauce drizzled on the cup and topped off with whipped cream and caramel drizzle, for a drink that’s as photogenic as it is delicious.

What’s even better, is I discovered that they can make any Dutch Bros Drink “Picture Perfect”, by adding the caramel and chocolate sauces and whipped cream to the cup.

Barista HQ Tip
  • Instead of whip, try the sweet and fluffy Soft Top!
  • Ask for syrups and sauces to be sugar-free if you’re cutting down on sugar. Keep in mind that the espresso base cannot be made sugar-free, however.

12. Caramel Frost

Dutch Bros Caramel Frost
Caramel Frost Standard Ingredients
  • ice cream shake
  • Caramel Syrup

I can’t believe I went years thinking the Caramel Frost was the same thing as a Caramel Freeze.

While I love the Freeze, the Caramel Frost is actually a take on the classic shake - and I LOVE shakes!

While the coffee shop offers a wide range of complex Frosts to choose from, this one is straightforward: just ice cream and caramel syrup.[2]

While it is coffee-free, this shake transports me to a time where things just seemed simpler - just like the Caramel Frost.

Barista HQ Tip
  • The Caramel Frost is caffeine-free, but I love adding a shot or two of their White Espresso for a luscious pick-me-up.

13. Trifecta Freeze

Dutch Bros Trifecta Freeze
Trifecta Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • espresso Freeze Base
  • caramel sauce
  • white chocolate sauce
  • dark chocolate sauce
At Dutch Bros, a “Trifecta” is caramel, white, and dark chocolate.

The Trifecta Freeze is like a Picture Perfect freeze, subbing the caramel drizzle for white chocolate sauce.

I find it tastes like a White Chocolate Mocha on steroids, with the caramel taking it to a whole new level of decadence.

I always get this one with a soft top, but I’ve tried it with whip and they’re both great.

Barista HQ Tip
  • I recommend trying the Iced Trifecta Mocha for essentially the equivalent of the freeze, but on ice.
  • Here is my health-conscious alternative: the Iced SF Americano. This drink is made with espresso, and sugar-free caramel, white chocolate, and dark chocolate. Add a shot of half-and-half for a creamier version.

9-1-1 Extra Sweet with Caramel Standard Ingredients
  • espresso (6 shots)
  • half and half
  • Irish cream syrup
  • caramel syrup

When I’m having a coffee emergency, I make sure to pull into my nearest Dutch Bros drive-through and order a 9-1-1.

It’s like a defibrillator in a cup, with 6 shots of espresso, half-and-half, and Irish cream syrup

If you really want to go full-throttle on flavor, though, get the 9-1-1 Extra Sweet with Caramel .

While I admittedly drink more coffee than I should, even I don’t try it after 4 PM, as I know I won’t be able to fall asleep at night.

It’s certainly my drink of choice when my tank is running low on energy, and is a billion times tastier than any energy drink out there.

15. Dutch Canyon Mocha with Caramel Drizzle

Dutch Bros Canyon Mocha Freeze with Caramel Drizzle
Dutch Canyon Mocha with Caramel Drizzle Standard Ingredients
  • espresso
  • chocolate milk
  • chocolate sauce
  • white chocolate sauce
  • chocolate macadamia nut syrup
  • whipped cream
  • caramel drizzle

A Broista once described the Dutch Canyon Mocha with Caramel Drizzle to me as a chocolate turtle in a cup.

He wasn’t wrong.

Made with espresso shots, chocolate milk, chocolate sauce, white chocolate sauce, chocolate macadamia nut syrup, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle, it may be even better.

While the Dutch Canyon Mocha has the most ingredients of any on this list, it’s surprisingly not overly saccharine or rich.

16. Wallaby Freeze

Dutch Bros Wallaby Freeze
Wallaby Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • espresso
  • chocolate macadamia nut syrup
  • dark chocolate sauce
  • caramel sauce
  • whipped cream
The Wallaby is a rich and nutty espresso-based drink that is crafted with chocolate macadamia nut syrup, caramel sauce, and dark chocolate sauce, topped with whipped cream

This is one of those drinks that further made me realize why Dutch Bros really stands out from other commercial coffee chains.

The caramel, macadamia, dark chocolate trio oozes indulgence, with a depth and complexity I don’t often try in frozen drinks.

The freeze is one of the most popular secret menu items, but I also love it toasted and on ice.

Barista HQ Tip
  • I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out: pumpkin drizzle over the whipped cream. Just ask for the Wallaby Freeze with Pumpkin Drizzle.

17. Dirty Caterpillar

Dutch Bros Dirty Caterpillar
Dirty Caterpillar Standard Ingredients
  • smoothie base
  • caramel sauce
  • apple syrup

I love caramel apples, but my teeth do not.

The Dirty Caterpillar fulfills my caramel apple cravings without worrying if I’ll be down a tooth after indulging.

This secret menu drink is blended into a smoothie, then drizzled with caramel sauce, and apple syrup.

It’s thick, smooth, sweet, spicy, and is the perfect accompaniment to a trip out to pick pumpkins.

18. Flap Jack Freeze

Dutch Bros Flap Jack Freeze
Flap Jack Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • espresso Freeze Base
  • white chocolate sauce
  • caramel sauce
  • vanilla syrup
  • whipped cream

I’m the kind of person who would eat breakfast for every meal if I could, so when I found out I could also drink it, I had to try the Flap Jack Freeze.

Made with espresso freeze base, white chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, vanilla syrup, and whipped cream, it’s as indulgent as a short stack of pancakes.

The caramel really stands out here, taking the place of maple syrup to create a comforting, homemade kind of nostalgia.

For a more authentic, cozy feel, you can also order the Flap Jack toasted (or on ice), making for the perfect drink on a chilly morning.

Barista HQ Tip
  • When ordering either a toasted or iced Flap Jack, I like to ask for white coffee for a smoother, buttery taste.

Caramel Freeze Standard Ingredients
  • Espresso Freeze Base
  • exclusive chocolate milk
  • caramel sauce ribbons
  • whipped cream

Every sip of the Caramel Freeze offers an explosion of luscious flavor with a contrast of ingredients that work together perfectly.

It's a blended coffee caramel drink made with espresso freeze base, chocolate milk, caramel sauce, and whipped cream.

The chocolate milk is a surprising ingredient, but rather than overpowering the caramel, works to bring out its best qualities.

If you prefer it less sweet or dairy-free, simply sub the chocolate milk for a plant-based milk and get it without whip.

Barista HQ Tip
  • Substitute the caramel for salted caramel sauce, and add pumpkin drizzle. Fall vibes will be in full effect!
  • With the Caramel Freeze, add banana. They will blend in actual banana, which adds in a unique sweetness and lets me pretend I’m being healthy.

Tips When Ordering Caramel Drinks At Dutch Bros

Plenty of Dutch Bros caramel drinks is usually super easy, but many of my favorites are on the secret menu.

The fantastic thing about Dutch Bros is that everything is customizable.

This can also make ordering a bit overwhelming, as it did me when I was a little DB newbie.

Here is the “correct” order of steps:

  1. Select whether the drink will be hot, iced, or blended first.
  2. Next, select the milk or type of drink (Rebel, tea, etc.)
  3. If the flavor has an actual name, say the name (for example, a ‘blended freeze Flap Jack...’).
  4. After, indicate if the drink will have any extra shots of espresso or a different type of espresso (white or decaf).
  5. Any milk substitutions.
  6. Sweetener: To order the drink extra-sweet, sugar-free, etc., anything to do with sweetness happens in this step.
  7. Toppings: This includes, whipped cream, soft top, sprinkles, drizzles, and other toppings.

I have encountered new Broistas who don’t know how to enter in freezes, and many are trained to use the “Carburator” button for a freeze. If they’re unsure, I usually mention “Carburator” if they need me to elaborate.

In addition to these, here are some other tips that have helped me:

Add Caramel Drizzle to Any Beverage

If you want more caramel in your beverage, request a caramel drizzle.

Try The Sugar-Free Caramel

Dutch Bros offers a sugar-free caramel sauce. If you're trying to stay away from sugar, this is a good choice.

Keep in mind that pretty much anything sugar-free at Dutch Bros is going to taste around half as sweet as the regular syrups and sauces.

Ask For a “Picture Perfect”

Sometimes I just can’t stop the urge to take a photo of my Dutch Bros drink.

To make it extra pretty and tasty, I’ll order it ‘Picture Perfect’, which where they drizzle caramel and chocolate sauces around the cup and top it with whipped cream.

The Sistine Chapel has nothing on this when they’re done.
