Dunkin’ Donuts is known for its O-shaped baked goods and hot coffee, but on hot afternoons I usually reach for frozen drinks instead.

The first time I tried DD’s Pumpkin Frozen Coffee at the beach, I expected a standard iced coffee. Instead, the thicker texture and sweeter pumpkin flavor made it feel more like a treat than a caffeine stop.

That was enough to make me pull my favorite frozen drinks together here.

Much like Starbucks Frappuccinos, the Dunkin selections can vary depending on the location and season.

You can usually find these 13 drink options whenever you stop by.

There are four main types of blended beverages to choose from at DD:

  • Frozen Coffee - These are made with Dunkin' frozen coffee syrup, liquid sugar, ice, and cream. It's refreshing and caffeinated - perfect for when the hot sun is draining your energy.
  • Frozen Chocolate - If you’re a chocolate fiend, you’ll love these beverages made with cocoa powder, mocha swirl, ice, milk, and liquid sugar.
  • Frozen Matcha Latte - These are slightly sweet, with matcha powder, milk, and ice.
  • Coolatta - This is DD's signature frozen drink and the one that's a lot like frappes. They're made with flavored swirls of Coolatta syrup, sugar, ice, and sometimes milk or cream!

1. Mocha Frozen Coffee

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Mocha Coffee

Dunkin Donuts used to serve the frozen coffee Coolatta on the menu, and the Mocha Frozen Coffee is the closest thing I have found since it disappeared.

It comes with cream or milk, coffee syrup, mocha swirl, ice, and liquid sugar, topped with whipped cream and mocha swirl.

The frozen chocolate drink is the one I reach for when I want something rich and cold without losing the coffee note completely. The coffee swirl brings just enough bitterness to keep it from tasting flat.

2. Peanut Butter Frozen Chocolate

Dunkin Donuts Peanut Butter Girl Scout Cookie Frozen Chocolate

Calling all Reese’s lovers. The Peanut Butter Frozen Chocolate is one of the drinks I remember most easily because the peanut butter and chocolate flavors come through so clearly together.

It tends to show up seasonally around Halloween, which is frustrating because that chocolate and peanut butter combination works so well in frozen form.

If I’m already treating myself, I usually add whipped cream on top.

A friend of mine used to order these after a workout during a bulk cycle and add a scoop of protein powder. I tried it once and liked how much more filling it felt.

3. Coconut Milk Frozen Matcha Latte With Toasted Almond And Blueberry

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Matcha Latte

The first time I saw coconut, matcha, toasted almond, and blueberry in the same drink, I expected chaos. Instead, the flavors settle into a surprisingly coherent mix.

The nutty, herbal, and fruity notes give it a lot of character, and it is probably the most unusual frozen drink on the list.

To order it, you can ask for any size of a frozen matcha latte with coconut milk, adding either sugar-free or regular Dunkin flavor shots of blueberry and toasted almond.

If I want the nutty flavor dialed back, I ask for less toasted almond syrup or swap to regular milk or a little cream.

4. Coconut Frozen Coffee

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Coconut Coffee

Coconut and coffee is one of the combinations I keep coming back to. The coconut rounds off the bitterness and gives the drink a creamier feel without making it taste overly sweet.

If I’m cutting back on sugar, I swap the liquid sugar for Stevia.

For me, the easiest order is a frozen coffee with coconut flavor shots.

BHQ Pro Tip: Hazelnut also tastes really good with the Coconut Frozen Coffee!

5. Caramel Frozen Chocolate

Dunkin Donuts Caramel Frozen Chocolate

On the hunt for healthy options at Dunkin? This caramel-infused cup is one of the easier frozen coffees to order when I want something sweet without piling on extra sugar.

It’s a frozen coffee with sugar-coconut flavor shots, and I usually replace the liquid sugar with Stevia when I want a lighter result.

It’s also the closest alternative to a caramel frappe that I have tried.

6. Blue Raspberry Vanilla Bean Coolatta

Dunkin Donuts Blue Raspberry Coolata

I can see why this one appeals to kids and adults alike. If you do not usually drink coffee, the creamy, fruity ones are the easiest place to start.

The blue raspberry Coolatta is like an upscale 7-Eleven slurpee, and that cream and vanilla bean swirl addition elevates it even further. It’s like sipping on blueberries and cream!

7. Pumpkin Frozen Coffee

Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Frozen Coffee

Of all the flavors, the Pumpkin Frozen Coffee is the one I come back to most. Like most seasonal drinks, it only shows up in the fall.

If I want something cold before the weather really turns, this scratches the pumpkin craving well enough. It is creamy, and the pumpkin keeps the coffee from tasting too sharp.

I reach for this when it is not quite cold enough for a pumpkin spice latte but I still want something that feels like autumn.

8. Vanilla Bean Frozen Chocolate

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Chocolate With Vanilla Bean

This one takes me back to being a kid with a chocolate and vanilla ice cream cone at the fair. The Vanilla Bean Frozen Chocolate has that same general feel, just with a more grown-up cocoa note.

It is richer and less sweet than I expected, which makes it one of the easier blended drinks to start with.

9. Hazelnut Pumpkin Spice Coolatta With Oat Milk

Dunkin Donuts Hazelnut Coolata

This one is also limited to the autumn season, but it is worth waiting for.

I like hazelnut and pumpkin together, and the hazelnut helps round out the sweeter side of the pumpkin instead of letting it take over.

It also stays fairly restrained, especially if you order it with oat milk and unsweetened hazelnut flavor shots.

10. Caramel Frozen Coffee

Dunkin Donuts Caramel Swirl Frozen Coffee

I’m not a huge caramel fan, but I still take a sip or two of this one when I want something extra creamy.

It combines their signature coffee syrup, liquid sugar, cream, ice, and caramel flavor swirl and comes topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.

If I want to cut back on the sweetness, I order it without liquid sugar.

11. Mocha Strawberry Coolatta

Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee with Mocha and Strawberry

This strawberry-and-chocolate combination has shown up as a secret menu item at some locations and a seasonal menu item at others, so availability can be inconsistent.

I usually think of it as a strawberry Coolatta with half strawberry and half mocha swirl. It leans hard into both chocolate and strawberry, so it does come across pretty sweet.

12. Vanilla Bean Strawberry Coolatta

Dunkin Donuts Vanilla Bean Coolata with Strawberry

The flavor reminds me a little of strawberries and cream mixed with strawberry milk.

I order it as a Coolatta with half vanilla bean swirl and half strawberry swirl, plus cream rather than milk. I like whipped cream on top, too.

13. Oat Milk Frozen Matcha Latte with Blueberry and Vanilla Bean

Dunkin Donuts Frozen Matcha with Blueberry

If I want a frozen matcha latte but something a little different, the Oat Milk Frozen Matcha Latte with Blueberry and Vanilla Bean is the one I try.

It does not have that artificial taste some frozen drinks can pick up, and the vanilla bean swirl is already pre-sweetened, so I usually skip the liquid sugar.

Blueberry is sugar-free, and the oat milk keeps it from feeling heavy. It works well if you usually skip chocolate-heavy drinks.

What frozen drinks at Dunkin Donuts are the healthiest?

When I talk about “lighter” frozen drinks, I mean drinks with lower sugar and calorie counts. In practice, that usually means skipping liquid sugar or choosing swirls carefully, since those are the quickest ways the numbers climb.

There are also plenty of flavors that come sugar-free anyway.

Without any modifications, the Frozen Coffee or the Coconut Frozen Coffee are among the lighter options, since the coconut version also comes with sugar-free flavoring by default.

A smaller cup size also keeps the numbers down without changing the drink entirely.

What frozen drinks at Dunkin Donuts are sugar-free?

There are a few different options here, and the unsweetened Frozen Coffee is the simplest version, with just coffee and ice.

The Iced Coffee Coolatta can be customized with milk alternatives and unsweetened flavor shots, and it is completely free of liquid sugar, too.

Unsweetened fruit Coolattas are also popular sugar-free frozen drinks, using real fruit instead of extra sweeteners.

The most popular DD sugar-free flavor syrups are blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, toasted almond, coconut, hazelnut, and caramel.

What I like about the frozen coffee and Coolatta options here is that they leave room to swap in Stevia without losing the drink’s flavor completely.

Whether it’s mocha, strawberry, vanilla, caramel, or a mixture, you aren’t giving up flavor.

Keep in mind that some milk choices contain more sugar than others. Heavy cream, unsweetened almond milk, or soy milk are common lower-sugar picks.

Dunkin Frozen Drinks Coolatta

How are Dunkin Donuts frozen drinks different from frappucinos?

There are a few key differences between DD frozen beverages and Frappuccinos in ingredients and preparation.

Frappuccinos are usually made with a coffee base, as are the Frozen Coffee selections. Each chain also has flavors the other does not.

DD has watermelon, blue raspberry, and a few other flavors, while Sbux has plenty of seasonal options DD does not.

However, the frozen chocolate is very akin to Starbucks’ mocha frappe; their caramel frozen coffee is like their caramel frappes, and so on.

Both involve blending ice to create a smooth, frosty texture, but the blending process is a little different.

For example, Coolattas are more slushy, with larger chunks of ice, much like snow cones.

These are made with a special blender, the Island Oasis Blender.

Frappuccinos are smoother and involve more cream or milk. Sbux uses the Quiet One Vitamix Blender, which mixes all contents very thoroughly together.
