I have a boba obsession almost as serious as my coffee addiction.

So, I was absolutely ecstatic to find out Dunkin Donuts had come out with boba!

Boba is essentially tapioca pearls added to a traditional milk tea drink from Taiwan, but it’s taken over the Western world in recent years.

I’m going to dive into the availability of bubble tea at Dunkin, what kind of boba they sell, and much more!

  • Dunkin Donuts offers boba as an add-on
  • DD boba comes in strawberry, mango, or green tea
  • They do not currently offer boba milk teas
  • Boba began in Taiwan and is now a global craze

Does Dunkin Donuts Sell Boba Tea? (Get Your Bubble Fix)

Good news, boba fans: yes, Dunkin Donuts offers boba drinks! Well, kind of.

The coffee chain offers different boba flavors, including green tea, strawberry, and mango.

However, it’s important to note that boba is only available as an add on[1][2]

I like adding these strawberry bubbles in Dunkin Refreshers, as I don’t personally think the fruity flavors go well with Dunkin Donuts iced coffee or hot coffee.

I noticed that whenever I order a drink with boba at Dunkin, it’s served in a cup with a pink and orange paper straw large enough to let the boba pearls travel through.

What Kind of Boba Does Dunkin Donuts Have?

Dunkin’s bubbles are the popping boba kind. If you’re new to the milk tea craze, boba pearls come in two different kinds: the traditional boba and the popping boba.

The popping type of tapioca balls is just the traditional boba filled with fruit juice.

As its name implies, the boba pops in the mouth when you bite it. At this donut chain, the boba is filled with strawberry-flavored juice, hence the name Strawberry Popping Bubbles.

So, if you want to add a candy-sweet twist to certain drinks, a boba add-on can do the trick. Sipping a popping boba is fun and exciting--a whole new sensation in your mouth and tongue!

Are Dunkin Donuts Any Boba Drinks Good?

Whether you find Dunkin Boba good will depend on your personal preferences. Before you visit your local Dunkin for boba, it’s important to find out if this sugary treasure is worth the trip.

Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect with Dunkin’s popping bubbles:

Important reminder: Dunkin doesn't offer milk tea boba or bubble tea. Instead, the donut shop introduced popping bubbles as an add-on. In other words, they don't offer boba tea - only popping tapioca pearls.
Dunkin Donuts Boba Lemonade Refresher

The Dunkin popping bubbles have a strawberry, green tea, or mango flavor. They’re chewy, and every bite is a burst of sweetness.

The boba flavors aren’t too overpowering, but do add a bit of sweetness.

They add a nice bit of excitement to any iced tea, lemonade, green tea, and refreshers.

Generally speaking, boba are small, translucent spheres a bit larger than a pea, typically around 1/4 to 1/3 inches in diameter.

Its outer shell is made of a thin, gel-like material that is slightly shiny and allows the color of the liquid inside to show through.

Dunkin Donuts' popping bubbles have a clear outer shell with a filling inside.

The color of the filling varies, depending on the flavor.

Dunkin Donut Strawberry Popping Bubbles Boba Refreshers

I think 80% of what I enjoy about boba is the feel.

The smooth, slightly slippery outer shell with its soft, gel-like texture is truly satisfying.

As I bite down on it, the thin outer layer easily gives way, and suddenly there's a pop and a burst of flavor!

Sugar Levels

The sugar levels of popping pearls depend on the drink. For a Dunkin Iced Green Tea with Strawberry Popping Bubbles, it's around 7 grams of sugar for a small cup.[3]

For a large Lemonade w/ Strawberry Popping Bubbles, it's a whopping 75 grams of sugar.[4]

Caffeine Levels

Like the sugar content, the caffeine levels of the boba drink depend on the beverage.

For refreshers, there isn’t any caffeine. However, with iced tea or any tea-based drinks, there is a bit of caffeine, but not as high as what I'd get from coffee.

How To Correctly Order Boba At Dunkin Donuts

Here are some tips to correctly order boba at Dunkin Donuts:

All I do is order my favorite drink and ask to add popping boba to it.

To make sure my Dunkin Donuts location has this add-on, I always check the menu. It is usually under the add-ons section, next to the flavor additives and turbo shots or flavor shots.

Our Favorite DD Drinks To Add Boba

I’ll admit that boba doesn’t go great with every DD drink. However, Dunkin Donuts coconut refreshers and other refresher drinks are perfect. Here are other beverages I like with boba:

  • Peach coconut refresher
  • Peach passion fruit refresher
  • Mango pineapple
  • Iced tea
  • Iced coffee

The most popular drink Dunkin customers add boba to is lemonade. I really like this combination, as the texture of the boba complements well with the refreshing taste of the lemonade.

This delicious drink is perfect for the summer and will surely satisfy any sweet tooth!

Brief History Of Boba

Boba, a delightful treat from Taiwan, emerged in the 1980s when inventive minds combined chewy tapioca pearls made from tapioca starch with milk tea.

It became a sensation, combining soft and silky milk tea with the explosion of boba!

People loved the surprise of finding chewy pearls in their beverages, and soon, boba tea became a global phenomenon.

Over time, different kinds of boba emerged, like the playful popping boba with its liquid-filled center that bursts in your mouth.

The variety of boba options, including classic tapioca pearls and popping boba, caters to diverse tastes and preferences, ensuring everyone can find a boba drink they enjoy.

The fusion of delicious flavors and engaging textures continues to make boba a beloved beverage worldwide.

Common Dunkin Donuts Boba Questions

Do all Dunkin' Donuts locations serve boba?

Yes, all Dunkin Donuts locations serve boba add-ons.

How much Boba is healthy to consume in one day?

You should limit your boba beverages to one per day and, realistically, only have it sparingly as a special treat. This is due to the high sugar content of the drinks that it's in.

Is Boba good for weight loss?

No, boba isn’t good for weight loss. Boba contains high amounts of sugar and calories, which can lead to weight gain if consumed more than recommended.

So, does Dunkin have boba? The answer is yes; this donut shop offers boba! However, note that the boba Dunkin offers is just an add-on and not the actual boba drink.

They also don't have any milk tea, and the popping pearls can just be added to the existing iced beverages on their menu.

  1. For some reason, they are not offering at any location In Pennsylvania that I have found, so not all Dunkin’s have them. Last year the Dunkin’s here offered them and I got them all the time!
