What Kind of Boba Does Dunkin Donuts Have?
Dunkin’s bubbles are the popping boba kind. If you’re new to the milk tea craze, boba pearls come in two different kinds: the traditional boba and the popping boba.
The popping type of tapioca balls is just the traditional boba filled with fruit juice.
As its name implies, the boba pops in the mouth when you bite it. At this donut chain, the boba is filled with strawberry-flavored juice, hence the name Strawberry Popping Bubbles.
So, if you want to add a candy-sweet twist to certain drinks, a boba add-on can do the trick. Sipping a popping boba is fun and exciting--a whole new sensation in your mouth and tongue!
Are Dunkin Donuts Any Boba Drinks Good?
Whether you find Dunkin Boba good will depend on your personal preferences. Before you visit your local Dunkin for boba, it’s important to find out if this sugary treasure is worth the trip.
Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect with Dunkin’s popping bubbles:
Important reminder: Dunkin doesn't offer milk tea boba or bubble tea. Instead, the donut shop introduced popping bubbles, which you can add to the cold drinks of your choice. In other words, they don't offer boba tea but only popping tapioca pearls.

Taste
The Dunkin popping bubbles have a strawberry flavor. They’re chewy, and every bite is a burst of sweetness.
The boba flavors aren’t too overpowering, but it’s best to limit the sugar of your beverage if you’re planning to add popping tapioca pearls to your drink.
Because of its taste, it’s a great addition to iced tea, lemonade, green tea, and refreshers as it can complement their flavors.
Appearance
Generally speaking, a popping boba is a small, translucent sphere about the size of a pea, typically around 1/4 to 1/3 inches in diameter.
Its outer shell is made of a thin, gel-like material that is slightly shiny and allows the color of the liquid inside to show through.
Dunkin Donuts' popping bubbles have a clear outer shell with a red filling inside. As you may have guessed, the red color represents the strawberry flavor of the boba.

Feel
Picture this: you're enjoying a strawberry-flavored popping boba, and it's such a delightful experience.
As you place it in your mouth, you can feel the smooth, slightly slippery outer shell with its soft, gel-like texture.
Now, as you bite down on it, something magical happens!
The thin outer layer easily gives way, and suddenly there's that signature bounce and a burst of delicious, sweet strawberry liquid that fills your mouth--this is how each Dunkin popping bubbles feel.
Sugar Levels
The sugar levels of popping pearls depend on the drink you order with them. For a Dunkin's Iced Green Tea with Strawberry Popping Bubbles, you’ll get around 7 grams of sugar for a small cup.[3]
If you order a large Lemonade w/ Strawberry Popping Bubbles, you’ll get a whopping 75 grams of sugar.[4]
Caffeine Levels
Like the sugar content, the caffeine levels of the boba drink depend on the beverage you order.
For refreshers, you won’t get any caffeine. However, if you order iced tea or any tea-based drinks, you’ll get a little bit of caffeine, but not as high as what you’ll get from coffee.
