I wanted to find a cheaper, more eco-friendly way to use a Keurig and have my favorite coffee, and that's when I started looking for reusable K cups that anyone could benefit from.

I didn't just want any reusable K cup, though; I wanted the best. I wanted it to be as easy to use as a regular K cup and to give me the same consistent flavor. These are my top picks!

1. Perfect Pod Cafe-Save Reusable K-Cup

Compatible Devices - Keurig K-Mini, K-Mini Plus, K-Duo Essentials, K-Duo Plus, K-Slim (one stream brewers), K-Classic, K-Elite, K-Latte, K-Café, K-Select, K-Compact, and Keurig 1.0 and 2.0 Keurig machines.

The Perfect Pod Cafe-Save Reusable K cup is cheap and effective, but most importantly, it makes very fresh coffee!

The Perfect Pod is the best long term k-cup for those who want a simple and affordable way to make coffee at home.

This pack of four reusable coffee pods is made from BPA-free plastic with a stainless steel strainer.

The size and shape make it compatible with many Keurig coffee makers, and it works in almost every Keurig.

The shape of the coffee pod means it can be placed in any orientation within the Keurig machine, with no messing around to get the right angle.

Each K cup can hold up to 2 teaspoons of coffee, which is enough for your standard 8oz cup, and the shape of the coffee pod helps to circulate the water and create a more flavorsome brew.

What I really love about these reusable K-cup Keurig pods is their simplicity.

There are basically no moving parts, and the hinged lid is attached to the coffee pod, so it's quick and easy to load the coffee grounds, close it up, and put it in the device.

They offer an easy cleanup too, and you only need to rinse it with water to clear out any coffee left in the K cup. You can also stick it in the dishwasher for a deeper clean (but keep it on the top rack).

My only criticism of this K cup is the mesh strainer, and I've found that it can let some coffee grounds through.

It works fine with medium grinds but can't handle very fine grinds, as well as the Di Oro or Maxware refillable coffee filters.

I would recommend using a K-cup reusable filter (or paper filters) with this coffee pod to avoid getting gritty coffee.

These reusable Keurig pods balance quality, ease of use, and affordability well.

It's my top choice, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a straightforward, eco-friendly way to replace disposable K cups.

If you want reusable K cups that make Keurig coffee a breeze, look no further.

The Maxware reusable coffee filter is the easiest to clean and best for those who want great coffee with minimal fuss.

Maxware K cups are predominantly made from BPA-free plastic, just like the Perfect Pod coffee pods. However, they angle their mesh filter slightly differently.

This makes it harder for coffee grounds to get stuck and makes clean-up easier, and it only took me a quick rinse to get all the coffee out.

The coffee pods are sturdy too. I tried them under boiling water and ran them through the dishwasher, and there was no damage to the outer or inner casing.

They aren't as tough as the Brewsland stainless steel K cups but are tougher than most plastic pods.

My only criticism of this K cup is that it’s easy to overfill. I recommend keeping the coffee well below the max fill line, or it could cause some leaking.

Unfortunately, this may stop you from making very strong coffee because you can't load up as many coffee grounds.

Maxware proves that it shouldn't be difficult or time-consuming to use reusable K cups.

I recommend them to anyone considering switching to eco-friendly, reusable coffee pods for the first time.

GoodCups' reusable K cup is designed to work with almost every coffee machine and not just Keurigs!

They are best for anyone who wants high-quality coffee pods for a few different coffee makers.

GoodCups reusable K cup looks very similar to the Maxware and Perfect Pods models, but they offer greater consistency.

I tested this reusable K cup in several Keurig models and coffee makers and found no issues. It easily slots in and out, and there’s no leaking or overflow during the brewing process.

The micro-mesh technology in the filter works well too.

It's designed with a fine filter that keeps out coffee grounds and captures the flavor.

It doesn’t produce coffee as strong as the iPartsPlusMore reusable K cup, but it will still give you a full-bodied brew.

My only criticism of the GoodCups reusable K cup is the quality. It’s not as sturdy as other reusable K cups, and I did notice some warping when I washed it under hot water.

They aren't the most durable K cups, but they are very affordable, and at this reasonable price point, they offer good value for money.

If you have a newer Keurig or a few different coffee makers, these K cups are perfect for you.

Gold-plated kitchenware? Why not! If you love high-quality coffee and making a statement in your kitchen, you'll love the extravagant Di Oro reusable K cup.

The Di Oro Maxbrew offers style and substance. The sturdy outer casing is dishwasher safe, and the durable BPA-free plastic doesn't leak harmful chemicals into your brew.

The 24K gold really stands out in this reusable K cup. It's a cut above your standard K cup, and when I was using them, I left them on the kitchen counter because I wanted them to be seen.

The gold isn't just aesthetic, either. The plating helps to lock in some of the coffee flavors, giving you a richer brew.

Each reusable K cup has a honeycomb lattice that preserves the natural oils in the coffee so they can be absorbed during the brewing process.

It also filters out coffee grounds more effectively than the Good Cups and Maxware models. Even if you don't use a reusable coffee filter (or paper filter), you won't get gritty coffee.

The Di Oro Maxbrew reusable K cup enhances the flavor to give a fresh and better-tasting cup of coffee.

I recommend this reusable K cup for those with a slightly bigger budget who value an amazing everyday brew.

Compatible Devices - Keurig K series, Keurig Elite, Classic, Ultra, & Special Edition, Office Pro, Keurig Vue

Delibru makes the simplest reusable K cups I’ve ever used. They’re perfect for coffee lovers who want a fast, consistent cup of coffee.

The size and shape of the Delibru make it easy to use in coffee machines.

The recessed bottom means it slides in and out of Keurigs effortlessly, and it's quicker to use than the Maxware or Perfect Pod K cups.

The tight-fitting lid and filter basket also prevent any spilling or leaking. This means you'll get a consistent coffee every time.

The coffee is more than just consistent; it's good too. The BPA-free plastic doesn't leave any synthetic taste in the brew, leaving you with clean, fresh coffee.

It may not capture flavor as well as the Di Oro, but if you use a medium coarse grind, it will give you a full-bodied brew.

One thing to note is that the Delibru reusable K cup isn't the most durable model.

The cups are well made, but they will probably only last a year until they need to be replaced. This still offers good value for money, but don't expect them to last forever.

These reusable pods are dishwasher-safe, leakproof, and affordable. If you want a quick, easy, and eco-friendly cup of coffee, this is the reusable K cup I recommend.

The Brewslang Reusable K cup is tough and designed for frequent use - so it fits perfectly in my home. It’s best for those who drink a lot of coffee and want a reusable K cup for life.

The durability of this reusable K cup comes from the stainless steel construction. It's sturdier than the plastic models, and these reusable pods should last years rather than months.

There’s even a fitted silicone O-ring to keep the lid closed. This prevents leaking and stops the lid from becoming damaged.

This reusable K cup is easy to clean too. A hard tap on the counter loosened the coffee grounds so I could just throw them away on the compost pile. It’s also dishwasher-safe for effortless cleaning.

What I really like about this reusable K cup is its purity. The stainless steel doesn't impact the taste at all, and there's no risk of impurities entering the coffee pods.

The stainless steel mesh keeps even fine grinds out of your coffee to avoid any grittiness too.

If you love pure, clean coffees, you will love this reusable K cup.

This reusable K cup is more expensive than plastic models and will cost you more than the Perfect Pods or Maxware models.

However, it will last a lot longer, giving you massive savings over the years.

I recommend this reusable K cup to anyone who wants a long-term solution for cheaper, eco-friendly K cup coffee.

Compatible Devices - Keurig K-Mini/K-Mini Plus, K-Duo, Keurig 1.0/2.0, Office Pro, K-Series

I love strong coffee, so the Cafe Flow stainless steel reusable K cup is one of my favorites.

This reusable coffee pod maximizes the coffee taste, and it's the best reusable K cup for those who enjoy strong coffee drinks.

Cafe Flow uses a stainless steel basket instead of a stainless mesh. This makes it easier for the water to interact with the coffee grounds and capture the unique coffee notes.

This creates a richer brew than other stainless steel reusables and is noticeably bolder than the Brewsland K cup.

However, I would only recommend using a medium coarse grind with this K cup, as fine ground coffee may go through the basket and into your cup.

This reusable K cup is designed with very few moving parts. It's just a steel bucket with an attached lid, and no extra accessories or paper filters are needed.

This simple design makes it easy to use, and it's perfect for anyone who just wants to slot it in their coffee machine and press a button.

Clean-up is simple too. The coffee grounds won't get stuck like they can with a stainless steel mesh, and a quick rinse should remove any residue.

They’re also dishwasher-safe for effortless cleaning. My only criticism of these reusable K cup filters was the compatibility.

It won’t work with the Keurig Supreme and other newer Keurig models, so it’s important to check the specifications before you purchase.

This reusable K cup is a long-lasting, high-quality, eco-friendly option.

It is more expensive than others on the list but offers some good long-term value. If you want strong coffee without disposable K cups, this is the one for you.

iPartsPlusMore reusable K cups are probably the best-designed coffee pods on the list.

They capture all the coffee flavors consistently and make a great brew of any size. These are best for coffee drinkers who want reliable and consistent full-bodied coffee.

iPartsPlusMore reusable K cups are first-rate. They feature a high-quality stainless steel mesh and have holes in the mesh that allow water in at all levels.

This allows the coffee pod to retain the coffee oils without getting watery, giving you a richer-tasting brew.

Each coffee pod also uses gold plating (like the Di Oro). This helps to preserve the coffee flavor and add to the consistency.

The gold-plated mesh doesn't just capture the flavor; it keeps any gritty grounds out of your cup.

Unlike the Perfect Pod or Cafe Flow, it works with finer ground coffee and will keep any coffee grounds out of your brew.

Some reviews have mentioned issues with the lid, but I didn’t have any problems.

It wasn’t as snug as the Brewslang lid, but I didn’t notice any leaking. Just make sure it’s securely fastened before you use it.

Reusable K cups can sometimes create weak-tasting coffee, but that's not the case here. This is one of the only reusable K cups I would use for a 10oz or 12oz coffee.

The combination of materials and design means it retains more flavor, so it tastes stronger.

I recommend this reusable K cup to anyone who wants bold-tasting coffee, in any size, at any time.

If you’re looking for reusable K-cup pods, where better to look than Keurig?

They know their coffee machine models inside and out and have made close to perfect reusable Keurig K-cups.

These are one of the best-rated reusable K cup pods, and great for anyone who wants 100% reliability every time, with no leaks, spills, or messes.

The Keurig My K-cup is compatible with every single Keurig.

It comes with a lid, filter holder, and brewer adapter that lets it fit into your specific coffee machine. It can also be used with travel mugs or for specialty coffee.

This is great from a compatibility perspective, but it does make the reusable cup much more complex.

There are far more parts than the Cafe Flow or Perfect Pod models, so assembly and cleaning can take longer.

However, what I really love about this reusable K cup is its capacity. It can fit a lot more coffee than most other brands, allowing you to make a stronger cup.

They have also designed this so it matches your Keurig settings perfectly. It has two fill lines for different sizes and allows you to easily make well-balanced coffees in any size.

Just bear in mind that this reusable K cup will only work in Keurgs, so if you need a K cup that’s compatible with another coffee machine, I recommend a universal reusable K cup like the Delibru instead.

These reusable coffee filters are custom-built for Keurigs and are great for those who only use a Keurig coffee maker.

If you want effortless Keurig coffee in all sizes, with no leaks or spills, this is the best reusable K cup for you.

The Blendin reusable Keurig K-cups are better value than most on the list. They’re the most affordable reusable K cups and are best for anyone on a tight budget.

Despite being cheap, these reusable K cups are well made. They use a BPA-free plastic with a stainless steel mesh to retain the flavors during brewing.

They have a hinged lid on the top of the reusable filter. This is less likely to get caught or come loose during brewing and prevents any leaking or spills.

The design of this reusable K cup helps to prevent your coffee from becoming weak or watery.

It only lets a certain amount of water into the pod, so your coffee grounds don't become oversaturated.

This gives you a fuller flavor than other reusable coffee filters (like the Delibru) and a better coffee.

There are two main drawbacks to the Blendin reusable K cup. Firstly, it’s not as compatible with Keurigs, so it’s important to check before you buy.

Secondly, the durability. It’s a well-designed reusable filter, but it isn’t as long-lasting as the Maxware or Perfect Pod plastic models.

You should handle the Blendin with care to get the most from them.

Despite some minor issues, these reusable K cups offer good value for money. Each reusable pod should last 6-12 months and can still save you hundreds of dollars in disposable K cups.

If you want reusable K-cup coffee filters to make your favorite coffee without spending a fortune, this is the one I recommend.

What To Consider When Buying Reusable K-Cups

I love my Keurig, but the daily habit of disposable K cups was costing me a fortune. It cost me almost $100 a month to fund my caffeine fixes, which just wasn't sustainable!

62% of Americans drink coffee every year, and the average consumption is 3 or more cups a day.[1] That is potentially a lot of disposable coffee pod waste, and a lot of money spent on K cups.

All the coffee pods ended up in landfill too, which has a negative environmental impact. So I invested in reusable K-cups.

With many models on the market, it is difficult to know what to buy. Below are the most important factors I would consider.

Coffee Capacity

The capacity of your reusable K cup is how much coffee you can fit inside. For most reusable K cups, that's between 2 teaspoons and 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds.

The higher the capacity, the more coffee you can fit and the stronger the coffee you can make.

Your average 8oz coffee needs around 2 teaspoons of coffee grounds (this is the golden ratio).[2] Large coffees need more coffee grounds, or they can become weak and watery.

However, you can't just pack the grounds in because that can overfill the pod and cause leaking.

If you want large coffees, you need a higher capacity reusable K cup like the Keurig My K-cup reusable K cups. These can fit up to 2 tablespoons of coffee to make larger, stronger brews.

The Price Varies!

Reusable K cups can cost anywhere from $2.00-$20 per pod.

The price of the reusable K cup will be determined by the brand, design, and materials used (stainless steel is more expensive than BPA-free plastic).

You will also get more reasonable prices if you buy more pieces at once.

If price is no concern, I recommend the Brewslang reusable K cup. This is well-made and durable, offering great long-term value for money.

If you’re on a tight budget, I recommend the Blendin reusable K cups. These aren’t as durable, but they are the most affordable option.

It’s worth noting that all reusable K cups are far cheaper than using disposable K cups. If you’re a heavy coffee drinker having 3-4 disposable K cups a day, that can add up to over $600 a year.

It’s often worth spending a bit more on a reusable K cup by recognizing just how much it will save you in the long run.

Hand Holding Brewslang Reusable K-Cup

Durability Is Key

Reusable K cups are exposed to high heat and regular wear and tear. You should choose a durable model that will last longer and give better long-term value for money.

Stainless steel K cups are usually more durable and longer lasting than plastic models, but modern plastics are sturdy too.

All the reusable K cups on the list are reasonably tough, durable, and reliable.

However, if you drink a lot of coffee, I recommend stainless steel models like the Brewslang reusable K cups that can stand up to heavy use.

Material Matters!

Reusable K cups are typically made from stainless steel or plastic.

There are pros and cons to each, but the best reusable K cups are usually made from BPA-free plastic because they are cheap and durable.

Plastic reusable K cups are eco-friendly and BPA-free (which means no unwanted chemicals in your coffee).[3] They’re also cheaper and lighter.

The downside is that they are less durable and can’t always handle high temperatures, so they won’t always be dishwasher-proof.

Stainless steel reusable K cups are tough, durable, and easy to clean. The downside is that they are usually more expensive.

If you want a good quality plastic reusable K cup, I recommend the Perfect Pods or Di Oro reusable K cups.

If you want a tough, reliable stainless steel K cup, I recommend the Brewslang or iPartsPlusMore reusable K cups.

Remember, reusable K cups may be made with a mix of plastic and metal for the basket, lid, and other parts.

It’s important to understand the amount of metal and plastic in the reusable coffee pods before you purchase.

Perfect Pod Cafe-Save Reusable K-Cup In Use

Moving Parts

Reusable K cups are never as simple as regular K cups, but some are simpler than others.

The simplicity of your reusable K cup is usually determined by how many moving parts it has, as this determines how much effort it takes to make your morning cup of coffee.

If you want a hassle-free coffee, I recommend the Cafe Flow reusable K cups. These have very few parts, so it's easy to make a great cup of Keurig coffee.

Mesh Size

The mesh size of your reusable K cups controls how the coffee beans and hot water interact. This impacts the taste and texture of your final cup of coffee.

There are two options for most reusable K cups:

Fine mesh

This mesh is best for finer grounds and creates a stronger coffee. It also helps stop small coffee particles from entering your final brew.

Wide mesh

This works for coarser coffee grounds that need longer extractions.

Wide mesh reusable K cups work best for Keurig coffee machine models with longer extraction times but should still make a fully flavored Keurig coffee.

The coffee grind size can make a big difference to your coffee.[4] Generally, Keurig coffee makers work best with a medium grind, so a wide mesh (like the Cafe Flow reusable K cups have) is best.

However, if you prefer stronger, more intense coffee, I recommend the Perfect Pod or Di Oro reusable K cups with a finer mesh.

Cafe Flow Stainless Steel Reusable K-Cups On Paper Towel

Accessories

Reusable K cups often come with extra accessories for coffee making. These generally aren’t essential, but they offer a bit more value for money.

The most common accessories are a coffee scoop and a paper filter (to keep the grounds out), but they can vary.

If you want a reusable K cup with extra accessories, I recommend the Keurig My K-Cup.

These come with a removable lid and basket and adapters for different Keurig machines. However, you can usually buy a package of accessories for any reusable K cup you choose.

Compatibility With Coffee machines

Keurigs operate differently from other coffee makers and have specific pods (K cups).

Reusable K cups should fit in a Keurig, but regular reusable coffee pods may not, so it’s important to check first.

Even if you buy a reusable K cup, it may not fit in your specific Keurig.

Some newer models only work with a certain size of reusable K cups, and some of the older Keurig models can’t read the code on the reusable K cups.

The best reusable K cups are fairly compatible, and most on the list above will work with a wide range of coffee machines.

The Keurig My K-Cup has the best compatibility for Keurig machines as it has adapters that make it suitable for every Keurig coffee machine.

However, it won't work with regular single-cup coffee makers.

I recommend the Delibru universal reusable coffee pod for those who want reusable single-serve coffee pods for other single-serve coffee makers.

Whichever single-serve K cups or coffee pods you buy, always check the manufacturer’s information for compatibility before you purchase.

Using The Delibru Reusable K-Cup

How To Quickly & Easily Clean Your Reusable K-Cup

A reusable K cup isn't thrown away like single-use coffee pods and requires some maintenance. If you don't clean your reusable K cup frequently, it can develop mold and bacteria.

This will impact the taste of coffee and can even be hazardous to your health.

Ideally, you should rinse it after every coffee and give it a thorough clean once a week.

Here's the best way to clean reusable K-cup pods quickly:

  1. Remove the reusable K cup from the single-serve coffee maker. Rinse out the coffee grounds using cold water.
  2. Remove the mesh basket from the reusable K cup (if you can) and soak it in warm water.
  3. Wash the rest of the reusable K cup with warm soapy water.
  4. Take a paperclip and scrape any solid ground coffee from the basket and the reusable K cup. This will prevent any clogging of the K cup in the Keurig coffee maker.
  5. Rinse finally with cold water and leave to dry.
  6. Replace the K cup with the coffee maker and let it run. Water should flow straight through it cleanly. If not, repeat the steps.

Frequently Asked Reusable K-Cup Questions

Are reusable K cups worth it?

Yes. A good quality reusable K cup will last for years and save you a lot of money in K cups. They’re also eco-friendly and give you fresher coffee because you can use your own ground coffee.

Are all reusable K cups the same?

No, there are a lot of different reusable K cups. Some are different sizes and designed for different coffee makers, and others are less durable and only designed to be used 3-5 times. It’s important to check your Keurig model and compatibility before you buy.

Do reusable K cups need filters?

No, however, reusable K cup filters help capture more flavors from the ground coffee and prevent any fine ground coffee from passing into your cup. I would recommend buying refillable coffee filters rather than paper filters because they offer better value for money.

How many times can I use a reusable K cup?

The best reusable K-cup brands can be used continuously for years, provided they are properly maintained. Some cheaper reusable cups may not last as long, but this should be clear from the packaging.

How full should I fill my reusable K cup?

Your reusable K cup should be about 80-90% full with about 2 teaspoons of coffee grounds (around 10g). Don't overfill it, or it could cause issues during brewing, including spills and leaks.

So, Which Reusable K-Cup Is Best?

A good quality, reusable K cup can save you hundreds of dollars a year and help you to protect the environment.

The trick is finding the best reusable K cups that are easy to use and give you a clean, bold coffee taste - just like a regular disposable K cup.

All the reusable K-cup models on the list above fit that bill and should give you great coffee while saving you money.

There's something for everyone, but my top pick is the Perfect Pod reusable model.

It balances performance and price, giving you an affordable way to make consistently high-quality coffee at home. It’s also long-lasting, giving you greater value for money.
