Let’s be real. If you’ve tried a lot of green teas, you know that not all of them are tasty. In fact, if you’re not used to the flavor of fresh green tea, you’ll find it a bit overwhelming.

Well, that’s not the case with Celestial Seasonings green tea.

It’s a green tea blend combining green and white tea to achieve a milder earthy flavor. As a result, it doesn’t have the bitter taste of other tea. On top of that, it’s Fair Trade Certified.

No wonder it's the best-tasting K-Cup green tea I have tried.

Pros

  • Recyclable K-Cups
  • Mild flavor
  • A great option for those who are not yet used to the fresh flavor of green tea

Cons

  • Seasoned tea drinkers may find the flavor too mild

If you've been consuming green tea for a while, you might have heard of another variant called matcha, a traditional green tea in Japan.

Unlike regular green teas, matcha contains high amounts of caffeine. In fact, it has the highest amount of caffeine compared to other teas.[3]

So, when I heard that I could get a matcha green tea K-Cup, I got pretty excited as it could be the best alternative for my morning coffee.

However, I didn’t expect much from them as I know that matcha requires a particular preparation to achieve its optimal flavor.

Surprisingly, Cha4TEA matcha hits all the spots and brews the perfect matcha.

Pros

  • Can easily make matcha in a few steps
  • Premium taste

Cons

  • It’s best to brew in smaller cups to achieve a more potent matcha flavor

If you want a no-frills green tea K-Cup, the Bonsai Tea Co. Green tea is the one for you.

Unlike other green tea brands that blend their green tea with other teas, this K-Cup is purely premium green tea leaves.

This means that you can enjoy the natural flavor of green tea. For those unfamiliar with this flavor, I suggest you brew your K-Cup in a bigger cup for a mild taste.

I also like adding honey to counteract the intense flavor.

Pros

  • Made with 100% premium green tea leaves
  • Balanced flavor

Cons

  • Packaging isn’t recyclable

I am a fan of tea blends, especially those that incorporate herbs and flowers. So, when I saw this Lipton green tea blend, I decided to buy it right away.

This unique blend of green tea, chamomile, and mint is the perfect pick-me-up drink, especially after a stressful day at work.

It has an enticing aroma that makes me feel relaxed. On top of that, mint teas are known to provide numerous health benefits too.

No wonder this Lipton green tea chamomile mint blend is such a hit with tea lovers like me!

Pros

  • Outstanding flavor
  • Excellent blend that offers different health benefits

Cons

  • The minty flavor may be too strong for some

One of the best green tea K-Cups you should try is the TAZO green tea.

While it’s comparatively more expensive than other K-Cups, it doesn’t fall short of providing exceptional taste in every cup of green tea.

Like most K-Cups in this list, this is a green tea blend featuring lemongrass, spearmint, and lemon verbena. While it’s not essentially authentic green tea, this delicious blend can satisfy any green tea lovers craving.

It has a fresh, earthy taste with the subtle flavor of the blended herbs--a unique experience in every cup of tea.

Pros

  • Amazing taste in one cup
  • Made with the finest ingredients

Cons

  • More expensive compared to other tea K-Cups

If you’re not too adventurous with your green tea, don’t worry. I got your back.

With the Twinings Green Tea K-Cup pods, you’re basically getting the same Twinings green tea bags but with the convenience of Keurig K-Cup brewers.

I am actually fond of this London green tea as it can be a breath of fresh air from all those tea companies who are trying to up each other with too many new things in their green tea K-Cups.

Don’t get me wrong; I do enjoy those blends. It’s just that there are moments when I just want the fresh taste of green tea leaves.

Pros

  • Perfect tea for those looking for the classic taste
  • Brews just like the tea bag version

Cons

  • May be too bland for those seeking some unique flavors

Another matcha K-Cup drink on my list is the Vitacup green tea. Unlike Cha4TEA that's purely matcha, this is a unique mix of moringa and green tea with added vitamins.

Made with natural ingredients, this cup of green tea will not only energize you but is said to also detoxify harmful toxins in your body.

It also has a smooth taste with an umami flavor; no wonder it's pretty addicting.

Once you've tried one, you'll never get enough of these tea pods. It's a tad pricey, but you get what you pay with the best green tea K-Cups.

Pros

  • Packed with vitamins
  • Made with recyclable tea pods
  • Made with premium green tea

Cons

  • Not as energizing as it claims to be

One of the most affordable green tea K-Cups you can find right now is the Bigelow green tea pods.

Even though it’s comparatively cheaper, it never fails to deliver quality green tea and can make the perfect cup, almost every serving.

On top of that, it doesn't produce a watery taste if brewed in an average cup.

Unlike other green tea K-Cups that require to be brewed in smaller cups, this tea pod can provide a potent cup with just the right amount of hot water.

So, if you want a taste of classic green teas and also enjoy a larger mug like I do, you're not going to regret buying this.

Pros

  • Authentic green tea
  • Perfect for making an iced tea

Cons

  • Although it’s authentic, many may find this a basic green tea since it doesn’t come with any tea blend

If you're a fan of sweet and refreshing teas, this is the best green tea K-Cup for you.

The intense flavor of the green tea leaves is neutralized by the various sweet tropical fruits added to the blend.

This means you won’t get much of those toasty notes that can be off-putting to some tea drinkers.

On top of that, Maud’s only kosher-certified tea leaves and pure organic ingredients from premier growing regions around the world. No wonder this unique blend of K-Cup pods is close to perfection.

Honestly, the USDA organic seal was the primary reason I tried these green tea K-Cup pods, and I was not disappointed.

Pros

  • USDA organic
  • Subtle flavors

Cons

  • Not the best tea if you want the classic green tea taste

Authentic green tea doesn’t always have a strong and earthy flavor; Gya Tea Co Classic green tea K-Cups prove that.

Even if it’s called a classic green tea, it has a sweet and mellow taste that anyone, even kids, can enjoy. Well, compared to other types of tea, like black teas, these green tea K-Cups are a treat.

However, if you’re more used to the vegetal taste of classic green tea, I wouldn’t recommend this option. I find that my cup of green tea is weak, unlike the other pods on this list.

Barista HQ tip:

Your green tea pods are brewing weak cups? Try removing the seal of the pod and brew the loose-leaf tea in hot and boiling water for at least 3 minutes. It can make your cup stronger but with more work.

Pros

  • Chinese green tea without the strong taste
  • 100% pure green tea and no added ingredients

Cons

  • Brews a weak cup

What To Look For When Choosing Green Tea K-Cups

Brewing green tea in Keurig Brewers is undoubtedly convenient.

However, not all green tea pods are made the same way. So, how can you make sure that you only buy quality green tea K-Cups for your brewing machine?

Looking for other types of tea K-cups? Check out our other guide below!

Price (Per Count) Can Add Up Quickly

One common mistake I’ve noticed with Keurig machine owners is that they focus on the price of the whole pack rather than the cost of each cup. Don’t worry; I’m guilty of that too.

In the past, I usually just looked for the cheapest pods, and then when I did the math, I actually didn’t save any money.

So, instead of looking at the price of the whole pack, look at how much each cup of green tea costs. A simple math you can do is divide the price of the green tea by the number of K-Cups in the package.

This will allow you to understand how much each cup costs and help you save more money in the long run.

Flavor Profile

Although green teas taste great (bias, of course), they usually have different flavor profiles. Some of the most common ones are earthy, fruity, floral, and nutty.

So, ask yourself, what kind of tea flavor do you fancy drinking?

By identifying your preferred flavor profile, you can easily choose what kind of green tea K-Cups you should purchase. For example, I really love earthy flavors with some fruity or floral notes.

That’s why I always go for green tea blends instead of the classic ones.

Customer Ratings

Don’t just take the packaging or my word for it; customer ratings can often tell whether a product is good or not right away. However, don’t just look at the star ratings.

If you have time, especially when purchasing a lot of green tea K-Cups, check out the customers' reviews to see its brand reputation and what actual users think of the product.

Certified Organic Or Fair Trade Is Best

There are hundreds of old and new brands in the tea industry, making it hard to filter which companies provide quality green tea K-Cups.

One easy way to tell if you're getting good tea is the Certified Organic or Fair Trade seal. Most of the time, you get premium green tea if you see these seals.

You can also apply the same practice when buying black tea K-Cups. However, note that it does not indicate that your cup will have great taste.

Instead, it suggests that the company uses organic ingredients and follows a fair trade code of conduct that prioritizes social and environmental standards.

Twinings Green Tea Beside A Rack Of Other Tea Variants

Caffeine Content Varies

If you're caffeine sensitive, it's best to stick with green teas that have lower or no caffeine content. While green tea has caffeine, it is comparatively lower than coffee, making it a great alternative.

However, except for matcha, this green tea has high amounts of caffeine.

Added Sugars Are Not Good For You

To enjoy the full benefits of green tea, it’s best to get those that don’t contain added sugars.

Unfortunately, most of the time, these brands have high sugar content, which obviously won’t have a significant impact on your health.

At the same time, avoid those with artificial ingredients like artificial flavorings.

If you want to experiment with flavors, try making your own blend, like adding cinnamon, whole cloves, or other herbs and spices to your cup of green tea. Honey works well, too, as a sweetener.

Compostable Packaging

K-Cups may be convenient, but they can generate a lot of waste--from the seal to the pods to the packaging.

So, to reduce its environmental impact, look for green tea K-Cup pods that feature compostable packaging.

Another way is to use a reusable K-Cup and put your own loose-leaf green tea in it. It’s not only environmentally friendly but also gives you control over how much tea you can put in a pod.
